In other cases, some States and Countries have had to re-initiate lockdown protocols after a resurgence of the virus. As you can imagine, the extended lockdown has led to issues such as Lockdown Fatigue and loss of productivity. So, how can one stay safe but remain productive during the lockdown? We have found this to be a particularly important, especially in Countries where the lockdown has repeatedly been extended. The COVID-19 pandemic was both unexpected and much more far reaching in its effects on the world. Research shows that since the pandemic started, there have been over 15 million confirmed cases worldwide. Thankfully, of this number, over 8 million infected people have recovered, with a little over 600 thousand deaths. These stats show that there is need to continue to take necessary precautions and follow social distancing guidelines. Seven Practical Ways to stay Productive during Lockdown

Earlier in this post, we established the need for everyone to continue to stay safe during the lockdown. Having said that, we would like to clarify that one can stay safe and still be productive. Here are seven practical ways to do that:

  1. Set achievable Goals: To stay productive, try setting achievable goals that can be broken into daily actionable steps. Doing this helps set your priorities and ensures you don’t waste time on unproductive things. Such goals could range from career related goals to personal ones.
  2. Learn Something New: If you’ve always wanted to learn something new, now is the perfect time to do so. Learning new things will open you up to so many possibilities and expand your creativity.
  3. Workout and Exercise: While on lockdown, it is very easy to lose sight of one’s physical fitness. This is particularly true when there is nowhere to go and little physical activity to perform. However, it is important to stay healthy and physically active, even if you must do it intentionally. Remember that healthy bodies house healthy souls that are capable of creativity, imagination, and productivity.
  4. Connect with Friends and Family: It is never a good idea to stay away from family and loved ones. While large gatherings may not be possible, one can find creative ways to connect with family and friends regularly. For example, one could use free video chat apps like Whatsapp, Zoom or Microsoft Teams or connect over social media.
  5. Read Books: Another practical way to stay productive during lockdown is to read. Reading exercises the brain and keeps the mind active. We wrote a post recently on Great Books to Read on Lockdown, and recommend you check it out.
  6. Re-Visit an Unfinished Project: Are there tasks you’ve always wanted to complete but could never find the time to get done? Or did you ever start a project you couldn’t finish due to the demands from work? Now would be the best time to revisit such projects and complete them. After all, whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well.
  7. Update your Professional Life: Take the opportunity to update your professional life by taking online courses and webinars. There are several websites to learn from such as Udemy, Coursera and Pluralsight. Taking an online course that will give you a certificate is an excellent way to stay productive during lockdown. Such new skills would be a great addition to your resume.

What practical steps have you used to stay productive during this lockdown? How have you kept yourself healthy, without gaining excess weight? Feel free to share your thoughts and comments at the end of this post. As always, we would love to hear from you.
