The year 2019 is only just a little over two weeks away. To be more precise, it is exactly 18 days away. 2018 has been a great year but sadly, we must say goodbye to it and welcome in the year 2019. As the New Year approaches, we must ask ourselves how we are preparing for 2019?
It is a common saying that for any endeavor to succeed, it must receive a certain level of preparation. The same is true when it comes to planning for the New Year. One really interesting and common way people do this is through New Year Resolutions. While this method has its advantages and disadvantages, we would like to explore other ways to prepare for 2019.
How to prepare for 2019
As we mentioned earlier, setting New Year Resolutions is probably not the best way to begin the New Year. This is because they have a way of putting pressure on you to do (or stop doing) something without first creating a clear plan on how to achieve your goals.
For example, a person’s New Year Resolution could be to become healthier. However, this goal is so vague that it may be hard to achieve. This resolution does not include plans to exercising more, eat less fatty foods, avoid stress, etc. Without proper plans for each New Year’s Resolution, they instead become pointers to a person’s failures. That is if they are still remembered by the end of the year.
Preparing for 2019: A Better Way
Our takeaway for you today is this; don’t set vague New Year Resolutions. Instead, set specific goals you want to achieve in 2019 and for each goal, include specific steps you can take to achieve them. Here is a list of steps we think will be helpful as you prepare for 2019:
- Reflect on the Year 2018: What goals were you able to achieve? What goals were you not able to achieve. Why were you unable to achieve those goals. Reflecting in this manner will help you understand the mistakes you made this year
- Keep a Positive Attitude: As you prepare to enter 2019, remember to keep a positive and optimistic attitude. One way to do that is to surround yourself with inspiring and motivational materials.
