All through the month of September, we have looked at inspirational quotes on courage. We have considered what courage is and how it is expressed.
In our first post of the month, Courage to Conquer, we saw that courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. In our other posts, we saw that bravery and creativity are closely linked and discovered that while courage is important, it means nothing without purpose and direction. We also saw that courage is needed to take calculated risks and is required both to listen and to lead.
Courage is acting despite your fears
As we conclude our month long review of this subject, we would like to further clarify our definition of courage. This seems helpful as it can be confusing. Simply put, courage is not what you feel but what you do. For example, you may be scared to take certain calculated risks. However, if you do take those risks, that is courage.
Emma Donogue, the novelist said it best:
