The courage to lead is needed by all world leaders today. John C. Maxwell, the great author is credited with saying that everything rises and falls on leadership. This is very true. Great leadership produces progress and poor leadership produces hardship.
A Brief History of the United Nations
Since the creation of the United Nations in 1945, world leaders have come together every year for the United Nations General Assembly. It was at the end of World War II that world leaders first came together. They agreed that to prevent future world wars, a world body must be formed to protect world peace. This world body would be a platform for world unity and would serve as an impartial judge for Member States in international affairs. This was what produced the United Nations Organization, commonly referred to as the United Nations. This year’s General Debate at the United Nations begins today.
The Courage to Lead
In commemoration of this week long event, we take a look at a quote from Nelson Mandela, the great world leader.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. – Nelson Mandela
As deliberations begin at the United Nations headquarters in New York this week, we express our appreciation to all World Leaders, Heads of Government, Prime Ministers, Presidents and Royal Highnesses. May you all have the courage to lead your nations into new realms of progress and development, while maintaining our fragile peace.
Today’s Funny Quote
We leave you with a funny quote from Oliver Herford, the writer.
A woman’s mind is cleaner than a man’s: She changes it more often. – Oliver Herford
