It is said that the greatest risk in life is to not take any risks. In fact, nothing outstanding is ever really achieved without taking some kind of risk. Many successful business men are known to attribute their success to the successful risks they took early on. The key is in taking calculated risks that are carefully planned out and have a higher chance of success. In this post, we take a look at how to gather up the courage to take calculated risks.

With that said, let’s consider what it means to take calculated risks.

Taking Calculated Risks

It is interesting to note that taking risks and taking calculated risks are two different things. Taking random, careless risks is stupid. For example, driving without your seat belts, or texting while driving is a stupid and dangerous risk. We do not recommend these types of risks. On the other hand, calculated risks require courage, planning and a great deal of strategy. These are the type of risks we recommend. An example of this would be starting a business.

The Courage to Take Risks

He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.

The quote above is by Mohammad Ali, the great professional Boxer and Activist. During his professional career, Mohammed Ali accomplished some amazing feats. Some of these included taking on and beating George Foreman in the world televised Rumble in the Jungle match. The truth is that it takes courage to take calculated risks.

Another excellent example of taking calculated risks is that of Boeing, the manufacturers of the Boeing 747 jumbo jet. It is said that during design and manufacture, the Boeing company had invested so much into the project that if it had failed, they would have gone bankrupt. It was a huge risk but one that turned out to their advantage. Today, the Boeing 747 is one of the most known and popular commercial aircraft in the world.

Go Big to Win Big

As the saying goes, you have to go big to win big. In other words, you have to take huge risks to see huge returns. Do you live your life in a safe zone, never venturing into the unknown? Or do you take calculated risks that create exponential benefits? What type of risks have you made in your career or business? Feel free to leave us your comments at the end of this post. As always, we would love to hear from you.

We urge you today to set time out to plan out calculated risks that will be beneficial to you, your career or your company. Don’t be afraid to take those huge steps towards your big goals.
